Anxiety Therapist in Seattle and across washington

I am passionate about reducing shame and restoring hope.

Larisa Wade, MA., LPC, LMHC

I value being able to make the world a more compassionate place, one session at a time.

Hi I’m Larisa, Anxiety and Trauma therapist in Seattle, Washington. I work with clients who want to understand themselves better and feel less critical of themselves. Folks who have tried cognitive treatment interventions before but didn’t experience much change and people who want to heal from the past and live more fully and joyfully in the present.

I earned my Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling from The Art Institute of Chicago in 2020. Since then, I have worked in a variety of settings including community mental health and outpatient telehealth.

I chose to study art therapy because I believe that through art, we can access knowledge that we can not yet articulate with words.

I have specialized training in EMDR, art therapy, and eating disorder treatment, and feel comfortable working with a wide range of diagnosis and human dilemmas.

Healing starts with self-compassion

When you have been struggling for a long time, you may start to lose faith in yourself and feel disconnected from others.

Healing starts with self-compassion. To me, self-compassion means coming to understand that your feelings are valid and that your actions (no matter the outcome- make sense as efforts to navigate a tumultuous world.

I believe that self-compassion leads to reconnection with others and the world.

I want therapy to feel collaborative and believe that a genuine relationship is important regardless of the treatment modality. Some therapy goals are best met through active listening; others require problem solving and skill development; many require specialized treatment approaches such as EMDR or ERP.

Once I understand what your goals are, I’ll identify how I can most effectively support your growth.

maybe you find yourself thinking…

“How do I stop overthinking everything?”

“I’m burnt out and exhausted but can’t relax.”

“Why do I feel unsafe even when nothing’s wrong?”

Let’s try something different together with compassion, curiosity, and care.

What it’s like to work with me

I love when I am able to read between the lines, and reflect back what a client knew, but could not yet say.

I don’t want anyone to suffer in silence or to feel unable to enjoy their lives.

My goal is to deliver effective therapy in a way that’s relational and attuned to your needs. I use treatment modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Art Therapy.

I have used EMDR to help clients heal from a range of experiences, including grief, sexual assault, and emotional wounds from childhood.

I like that it helps clients understand and address the root of their negative beliefs, and that it allows them to process memories and associations that a counselor could not possibly identify for them.

I'm especially passionate about helping people recover from acute and complex trauma, depression, shame, anxiety, disordered eating, and body image concerns.

I love supporting fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community.

I most enjoy my work when I have rapport with a client and know that they feel deeply understood and cared for by me.

Clients have been described as warm, caring, and thoughtful. I value cultural humility and have a deep respect for my clients.
